Pesta Sukan is a premier sporting festival that promotes community engagement and celebrates the diversity of sports in the lead-up to National Day. The Singapore Xiangqi General Association is pleased to partner with SportSG to reintroduce Xiangqi to this iconic event—honouring tradition while championing strategic excellence in a dynamic, collaborative setting.
2. Objective
To celebrate Singapore’s 60th anniversary of independence; to promote Xiangqi as one of the sports in the festival; and to encourage traditional cultural activities.

5. Eligibility Criteria
Open to Singapore citizens, permanent residents, employment pass holders, or student pass holders.
6. Registration Process
Participants must register through the official SportSG website. Late registrations or incomplete forms will not be accepted. The registration deadline is 20 July 2025.
SportSG will award cash prizes and medals to the top 3 winners in each category. To encourage participation, the Singapore Xiangqi General Association will extend awards to the top 6 players in each category (cash prize amounts are subject to SportSG regulations and will not be disclosed here).
9. Competition Format
The tournament will follow a Swiss System format with 7 rounds (tentative).
Rules: Governed by the World Xiangqi Rules published by the World Xiangqi Federation.
Time Control: Each player has 15 minutes with a 5-second increment per move. A player who exceeds the time limit will be declared the loser.
Late Arrival: Players arriving more than 10 minutes late for a round will be considered to have forfeited.
Forfeiture: Players who forfeit two rounds will be deemed to have withdrawn from the tournament.

Reporting Time: Players must report by 9:00 AM on the day of the event.
11. Player Conduct
Players are expected to uphold sportsmanship and complete all rounds as scheduled.
Attire: Players must dress neatly and appropriately. Singlets, shorts, or slippers are not permitted in the competition area, except for children under 12 or those wearing school uniforms, who may wear shorts.
No smoking is allowed in the competition venue.
Electronic devices are strictly prohibited. Players must switch off mobile phones upon entering the venue. Using or answering a phone during a match will result in an immediate loss. A phone ringing will result in a warning for the first offense and a loss for the second offense.
Players may not bring mobile phones to the restroom during the competition. Violations will result in a technical foul.
Cheating will result in severe penalties and public notification upon verification.
Players must remain seated at their designated boards and may not wander (e.g., to observe other matches).
Upon completion of a match, players must report the result immediately and leave the competition area. Post-game analysis or photography in the venue is prohibited.
No food or drink is allowed in the competition area.

The organising committee reserves the right to amend these rules and regulations at any time as necessary.
